SafetyRespect factory – Temporary and fall protection manufacturing

The second safety coming of Sweden

SafetyRespect factory – Temporary and fall protection manufacturing

After recruiting a new team and investing in a UK logistics centre, SafetyRespect, who are the largest producer of edge protection products in the world, plan to deliver the highest stock levels and the fastest delivery service from its two high-tech European manufacturing plants.

Manufacturing over 100,000 barriers worldwide every year, SafetyRespect UK will have the most extensive range of products and services at every step in the Work At Height Hierarchy. And it has significant growth plans in multiple territories with the UK market a prime target.

Founded in Östersund, Sweden in 2007, SafetyRespect has purchased Vivatec UK to get a foothold into the British marketplace and has placed Vivatec boss Oliver Gwinnell at the helm. Gwinnell is ex Trad and Combisafe and was part of the Swedish firm’s product sales team that arguably changed the UK face of temporary edge protection.

A quarter of a century ago the UK temporary edge protection industry was very different. But with an influx of European brands many initiatives, for example, product standardisation, were quick to catch on and are very much now the norm.

Oliver Gwinnell, UK MD said, “Having worked in temporary edge protection for nearly twenty years, through recessions and a pandemic, we have huge aspirations in the UK, and we think now is the perfect time to launch here and offer something different.

“SafetyRespect UK isn’t going to be another ‘me-too’ company. We make our products in our two high-tech factories. We don’t make products for anyone else; we have the biggest, focused capacity for producing and that’s shown by manufacturing more products than anyone else. We can truly design bespoke solutions and because of our size we have the capability and control to deliver products fast. So, my message is simple, with SafetyRespect UK you will get ‘speed, no bumps’.

“I am going to keep my powder dry, but we have numerous innovative ways of smarter working just around the corner using technology. We want to be the next generation. We have a wise and experienced team with many years’ service plus a group of hungry innovators who want to engage differently with the industry.”

Per Ramberger, SafetyRespect CEO said, “There is much opportunity in the UK, and we are excited by this announcement. The UK is a mature, sophisticated market, wanting clever products and solutions. Our production capabilities are substantial, and we have invested heavily in technology creating smarter ways of working. We currently manufacture just over 100,000 barriers every year with a capacity of 125,000 meaning we can always deliver.

“Being Swedish, I have many dreams and aspirations. I have always wanted to be at the forefront of our industry, always wanting to find a better way of doing things. That isn’t arrogance, that’s being Swedish. Aspirations are important to us and by doing things well, doing them properly, with quality materials, the best people, having integrity, we have become, in a very short period of time the World’s biggest manufacturer of temporary edge protection products and I’m very proud.

“We have already supplied some very big UK projects and I very much look forward to seeing how we progress during these very exciting times.”

SafetyRespect UK will offer products and services across all steps of the Work At Height Hierarchy including catch fans, temporary edge protection barrier and access solutions like stairways. Also, personal protection equipment including harnesses, lanyards, rescue devices and the innovative Scissorsafe anchorage system. Plus, numerous certified training courses to help ensure product and site competency.

Temporary edge protection with precast socket on construction site in UK

Omnia floor slabs

precast_socket_safetyrespect_5330c

Our Precast socket is designed to be casted into precast concrete slabs right at the concrete factory. This provide an easier, faster and safer mounting of temporary edge protection at the construction site.

An Omnia flooring slab is a reinforced precast concrete slab which incorporates a triangular lattice girder that is attached to a lower layer of reinforcement. The lattice girder is manufactured using high strength steel wire which binds with in-situ concrete which is poured onto it.

By casting a Precast socket (product code 911108) into the lower slab means that temporary edge protection can be installed onto the slab before it is lifted into position allowing rebar installation and concrete placing onto the slabs within a collectively protected work area.

Precast sockets are fixed to rebar before the lower portion concrete is cast. A cut length of Protective sleeve (product code 911107) is inserted onto the Precast socket, which forms a 50 mm diameter hole around the Post and allows extraction when temporary edge protection is no longer required.

The Precast socket has an integrated post lock. Post 1,3 m and Barrier 2,6 are installed either before or after the prefabricated element is lifted in place. The Barriers can easily be lifted to the desired height when casting. No tools are needed.

Precast sockets are used to provide a cast-in base fixing for temporary edge protection posts. The Omnia slab is a reinforced precast concrete slab which incorporates a lattice girder to provide stiffness and facilitate the placement of the top mesh. The lattice girder provides rigidity to the slab when in-situ concrete is poured onto it.

Casting the base fixing into the lower slab portion means that temporary edge protection can be installed onto the slab before it is lifted into position, which allows rebar installation and concrete placing onto the slabs within a collectively protected work area.

Precast sockets are fixed to rebar before the lower portion concrete is cast. A cut length of Protective sleeve (product code 911107) is inserted onto the Precast socket, which forms a 50 mm diameter hole around the Post and allows extraction when temporary edge protection is no longer required.

The products are tested in accordance with EN13374 and meet the dimensioning requirements according to the Euro Code.

Precast socket wall

The precast socket wall (product code 911200) is inserted and tied to the reinforcement bars of a wall pour so that temporary edge protection posts can be inserted into them. When working with precast concrete wall panels this means that the temporary edge protection system can be installed unto the top of the wall sections before they are lifted into place.

The Precast socket wall is manufactured with a post lock inside the sleeve which retains the edge protection post preventing accidental uplift or removal. It is also pre-fitted with a protective cap to prevent concrete ingress.

This component is designed to eliminate concrete drilling and the need to work at height by installing the temporary edge protection on the ground in turn reducing installation time. Precast Socket wall is also suitable for insitu wall formwork and floor slabs. Overall length is 450 mm with four horizontal bars for tying into rebar.

• Length 450 mm.
• Integrated post lock.
• Delivered with plastic cover.
• Weight 1,8 kg.
