Precast concrete walls and beams

Adjustable clamp 550 for temporary edge protection on concrete wall at construction site UK

Pre-casting concrete elements allows for inclusion of cast-in components to support the temporary edge protection system needed to erect the structure. If edge protection is needed in wall or beam elements, cast-in anchors can be inserted into the formwork. If the attachment point is on the side of the sections, our Vertical bracket (product code 912118) can be installed. If it’s on top of the sections our Post foot (product code 912105) can be used instead as a bracket for posts and steel mesh barriers.

Socket with Rebar 400 mm is an expendable socket that is embedded into slabs or beams with a minimum depth of 500 mm. The Post socket sits flush with the top of the concrete and it is supplied with a protective plastic cap to prevent concrete ingress.

If anchoring is to be avoided, Adjustable clamp 300 or 550 can be installed on site before the units are lifted into position.

SafetyRespect offer technical support and will provide detailed information to your specific criteria.

Omnia floor slabs

precast_socket_safetyrespect_5330c

Our Precast socket is designed to be casted into precast concrete slabs right at the concrete factory. This provide an easier, faster and safer mounting of temporary edge protection at the construction site.

An Omnia flooring slab is a reinforced precast concrete slab which incorporates a triangular lattice girder that is attached to a lower layer of reinforcement. The lattice girder is manufactured using high strength steel wire which binds with in-situ concrete which is poured onto it.

By casting a Precast socket (product code 911108) into the lower slab means that temporary edge protection can be installed onto the slab before it is lifted into position allowing rebar installation and concrete placing onto the slabs within a collectively protected work area.

Precast sockets are fixed to rebar before the lower portion concrete is cast. A cut length of Protective sleeve (product code 911107) is inserted onto the Precast socket, which forms a 50 mm diameter hole around the Post and allows extraction when temporary edge protection is no longer required.

The Precast socket has an integrated post lock. Post 1,3 m and Barrier 2,6 are installed either before or after the prefabricated element is lifted in place. The Barriers can easily be lifted to the desired height when casting. No tools are needed.

Clamp for edge protection on steel structure

Adjustable clamps to underside of steel sections

Clamp for edge protection on steel structure

Adjustable steel clamps are bolted to the bottom flange of steel sections holding posts and barriers outboard of the structure. This attachment method is useful when the top surface of the steel needs to be left clear for decking sheets or precast floor slabs. They are also useful for temporary phase breaks on larger structures. Adjustable steel clamps can be pre-installed onto sections pre-lifting into the structure. The steel beam clamp has an integrated attachment for the post. Barrier 2,6 is installed directly onto the post lock and its height can easily be adjusted in order to facilitate different work tasks.

Temporary edge protection on steel beams at construction site

A planned temporary edge protection system fixed to the steel section web, offers a clear working space and unobstructed top and bottom sections for structural framed facade system (SFS) installation from inside the structure. The edge protection is connected into Flex facade brackets and are pre-adjusted to allow clearance for overhangs. Flex facade brackets are bolted into pre-drilled holes in the section webs. Design support is provided with hole positions or Tekla detailing.

Temporary edge protection on steel structures at construction site

Installing temporary edge protection onto the top surface of the steel section offers protection to anyone working on a steel structure before a unitised facade system is installed onto its perimeter. The temporary edge protection sits within the building line without protrusions to affect the facade installation. Sacrificial sockets are welded to steel structures during fabrication and cast into the floor slabs. The temporary edge protection system is quick and easy to fix to the sections before they are hoisted into the structure.

Fall protection net

Fall protection net is used as edge protection at construction sites to catch both people and materials that may fall. The net is available in a variety of sizes and designs and and the attachment is done with a rope or with a so called Grippa in, for example, a roof girder construction. The fall protection net offers both flexibility and safety, which results in increased efficiency when working at great heights. When positioned correctly the protection net is also used to catch falling objects such as waste material, tools, building parts, equipment, etc. The protection net also reduces the feeling of great height, which means that possible fear of heights of the workers is reduced. This creates a feeling of safety with increased efficiency as a result.

Catch fans on scaffolding

Catch fan scaffolding, temporary edge protection

SafetyRespect catch fan system for scaffolding is a compliment to our temporary edge protection system and is used to catch falling material and objects (not people) that may constitute a risk for injuries to people and damage to objects. This system is adapted to be installed on most existing scaffold brands without any need of cranes and with the possibility of integrating SafetyRespect’s edge protection system. Pay attention to the increasing loads on the scaffolding.

Attachment on top of concrete slabs

Temporary edge protection for concrete slabs

Installing temporary edge protection on top of the concrete slab keeps the edge clear for fixing facade brackets when unitised curtain-walling is to be installed or when masonry forms the external facade. We offer the following two main options for installing on top of slab.

The Socket base (product code 912110) uses a double-threaded M16 (product code 919111) that connects into the slab using an M16 drop-in or impact anchor (product code 919110)

Alternatively the Post foot (product code 912105) connects to slab using reusable screw anchors. This carries an economical benefit if the edge protection system is to be moved for around the project.

Both components hold Standard system Post, 1300 mm in height with double wedge lock connectors that retain Barriers in position without allowing them to slide. The Posts are held captive in Socket base and Post foot using a twist-lock design, which prevents accidental lifting or removal.
